An advertisement for Custody Nurse Practitioner roles in the Met specifically states – “You won’t always have a team to call on or a doctor to consult.” Given the often-complex medical needs of those in custody, particularly around the prescribing of medication and treatment following taser use, and the need to safeguard officers and Met staff, do you think it is appropriate that the new healthcare model being introduced provides custody nurses with no face-to-face clinical support from doctors?
