Budget 2023/24 (1)

  • Reference: 2022/2814
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 15 September 2022
Functional bodies have to produce budget submissions for 2023-24 in line with your “core central scenario”. This scenario envisages a 4.4% equivalent funding increase compared to 2022-23, after one-off items have been removed. This is far below the current rate of inflation. How will you reconcile budget submissions with potential inflation affecting costs during the year?

Recreational use of Nitrous Oxide

  • Reference: 2022/2813
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 15 September 2022
The recreational use of nitrous oxide appears to be on the increase, with cannisters littering many high streets and areas of London. Although it is covered under the 2016 Psychoactive Substances Act, it is difficult to police sales of nitrous oxide, as it has legitimate uses. How is the Met tackling this issue and what work are you doing with the health service to provide advice on the side effects of this drug?

  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 15 September 2022
What assessment has been carried out into the dangerous effects of high heat on bus drivers, and what potential changes can TfL make to ensure that any risk of heatstroke is mitigated? Are there any circumstances that you consider the temperature in the driver’s cab to be too dangerous to drive?

What does TfL plan to spend the Lillie Square Section 106 passenger capacity funding on at West Brompton Station, and will you consider enhanced facilities such as the installation of a staffed London Overground cabin, a passenger information point and more bin facilities?

Imperial Wharf Station Northbound Entrance

  • Reference: 2022/2810
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 15 September 2022
Following closures during the month of July, what active steps have you taken with TfL to ensure that the new northbound entrance and walkway at Imperial Wharf Station, which opened in June, remains open for commuters during peak hours to relieve congestion?

ULEZ Vehicle Compliance in Disabled Tax Class

  • Reference: 2022/2809
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 15 September 2022
TfL stated that it does not hold any specific data on the compliance of vehicles registered to disabled or disabled passenger tax class or data on the proportion of non-compliant vehicles with mobility impaired users that are not registered in the disabled or disabled passenger tax class. Will you commit TfL to investigate this further to ensure that any potential expansion of the ULEZ does not adversely impact disabled Londoners?

ULEZ Extension Scrappage Scheme

  • Reference: 2022/2808
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 15 September 2022
Given that the ULEZ expansion in October 2021 covered around the same number of homes as proposed in the potential extension in August 2023, and provision of public transport options is more scarce in some parts of outer London, do you accept that £60 million is only a baseline figure for a new scrappage scheme and may have to exceed that number in order to provide help to Londoners?
