Air Quality Strategy (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Louise Bloom
  • Meeting date: 28 February 2001
I am interested that you should mention the draft transport strategy, Ken. Would you agree that the air quality strategy is inconsistent with the draft transport strategy? In the latter, you are content to allow the status quo of cars remaining the dominant form of transport in outer London; but the whole focus of the air quality strategy to reduce pollution in London is based on the need to reduce traffic levels.

Performance Indicators (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 11 July 2001
Lord Rogers, I thought I was just getting some sense about what I have been hearing and then I have got lost again so let me just seek to clarify. Are you saying that once you have made a decision about these two sites, are you saying that that work will then be fed into the work of the spatial development plan? In terms of your accountability I still do not get a feel in terms of where your work fits in to the strategic hold of the Authority. Is it too soon? How will you relate to the spatial...

Will you be producing a report so that we will know that this is, if you like, what Rogers did in his year with the GLA?

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 11 July 2001
My interest is that that has brought about a clarity which I certainly did not have and I know a number of other people did not have. But can I just ask you in two parts, can you do all that over a year, given that you have just said you started in May? Because I understand your contract is for a year. And you have talked about the SDS and we have only seen a document that is entitled "Towards the SDS" which, as I understand it, has got this ever growing life of its own. So if you...

TfL Guideleines on Safety of Children (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Andrew Pelling
  • Meeting date: 28 February 2001
One of the most important issues relating to children and teenagers travelling on the London transport system is the great number of attacks by other children and youngsters. Do you agree that one of the roles we can fill as an authority is to ensure an holistic approach among the different services which we have the responsibility for overseeing, by means of co-ordinating work by transport police and others; and by working in liaison with boroughs to try to find resources to police youngsters' travel home? There have been a number of vicious attacks in south London, and it is...

Thank you. Can we be kept aware of what is happening there?

TfL Guideleines on Safety of Children (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 28 February 2001
I have raised this issue because a case was brought to my attention which concerned a young girl travelling in the early evening on the DLR. The child was put on the train by one adult to be met at the other end - quite safely, except that she was 20p short of the fare. It was reported to me that, despite explaining her situation to the member of staff and offering her name and address, she was put off the train at the next station, which was deserted, when it was getting dark.In light of this and, I am...

Although you cannot give a date, there is no reason why you think it should spin beyond 2005?
