Surely the central issue here is that the police should be able to exercise possibly more frequent stops and more frequent searches in order to apprehend such criminal activity?

The Youth Offer money and the doubling of youth activities is an opportunity to try to restore some of the quality and the integrity of youth work that has been lost over the years. Is there any programme for making sure there is an evaluation of how the money is spent and whether or not it does meet this criterion of young people being involved?

Isn't there a case for using the fact that there is this very good offer on the table as leverage to restore those facilities? Saying, 'The money won't be there unless the facilities that were cut are restored and then there will be additional money for more facilities'.

Some smaller groups ' I was talking to one in Peckham yesterday ' think it has gone a bit quiet at the moment but I accept what you are saying; that there is more information to be published. There are some councils ' and I am thinking of one in my patch, Southwark ' which are in a financial mess. Southwark is currently cutting £30 million from its budget, including closing a children's museum.
