Biography
Veronica Wadley was appointed Senior Advisor to the Mayor (Team London, Volunteering, Charities and Sponsorship) following the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
In recognition of Team London with its innovative legacy programmes for the next generation of volunteers, London has been named European Volunteering Capital 2016.
Veronica is also Chair of Arts Council London, Board Member of Arts Council England, Governor of the Yehudi Menuhin School and Member of the Mayor’s Music Education Taskforce. In 2011, she co-founded the Mayor’s Music Fund which she now Chairs, giving music scholarships to young Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
She is a non-executive director of the Berkeley Group and an Independent Director of Times Newspapers Holdings. Previously she was Editor of the Evening Standard and Deputy Editor of the Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph.
Veronica was born in London and has spent most of her life in the city. She lives with her husband in Hampstead and travels to City Hall on the Jubilee Line.
Responsibilities
To lead the coordination of policy for Team London, Volunteering, Charities and Sponsorship and to provide advice to the Mayor in this area.
