Biography

Tom is Deputy Mayor of London for Housing and Residential Development, overseeing the Mayor's affordable homes programmes and investments in housing delivery. He also oversees the Mayor's work to improve the private rented sector, support the delivery of community-led housing, commission services to support rough sleepers and victims/survivors of domestic abuse, and on building safety.

He sits on the board of Barking Riverside Ltd, which is transforming the site of a former power station into a vibrant community, with ambitions to deliver 20,000 homes along with transport and other infrastructure in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham.

Before becoming a Deputy Mayor he was an elected member of the London Assembly, serving as a London-wide List Member for eight years, including as Chair of the Assembly’s housing committee. He also served as a councillor on Lewisham Council, representing Sydenham.

He is a trustee of New Diorama Theatre, and a former trustee of Humanists UK.
