Biography

Councillor Teresa O’Neill was elected to Bexley Council to represent Brampton Ward in May 1998 and has held various positions of responsibility within the Council including that of being a Member of Bexley's first Cabinet as the Cabinet Member for Lifelong Learning and Leisure (promoting education for life) in 2001-02. She became Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group/Opposition Spokesman for Education and Youth Services in 2003, Deputy Leader of the Council/Cabinet Member for Children's Services following the change of administration in 2006, and became Leader of the Council in May 2008.

An Executive Member of London Councils, Councillor O’Neill is also Executive Member (London Region) of the LGA.

Councillor O’Neill has been involved in politics for many years and has a background in the Financial Services sector. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the theatre, cinema and eating out.
