Overview
As part of it's investigation into whether London's homes are ready for a heatwave, the Planning and Regeneration Committee conducted a survey to gather Londoners' experiences of the May and June 2026 heatwaves, with a particular focus on conditions inside their homes and the impacts of extreme heat on daily life. Responses were collected between 2 June and 6 July 2026, with 134 Londoners taking part.
This survey analysis written by the Research Unit, presents the key findings from the survey, including Londoners' experiences of overheating, the measures they used to stay cool, the impacts on health and wellbeing, and perceptions of how residents in London are coping with periods of extreme heat.
