Transport Committee response to Route Utilisation Strategy

This is the Transport Committee's response to Network Rail’s plans to improve train services as passenger numbers rise over the next two decades. The Committee welcomes the Route Utilisation Strategy’s (RUS) more realistic plans for providing extra trains on services into London; more detailed plans for Thameslink; and continued electrification of rail lines. However, the Committee is concerned that Network Rail may not be able to deliver all the projects it proposes to, as future economic conditions and funding levels remain unknown. The Committee also highlights a number of specific issues relating to the passenger experience of train services in the capital that it would like Network Rail to address. Read the response in full:
