Our report finds that the bar must be set higher to deliver a truly lasting 2012 Games legacy. It paints a mixed picture of the work done so far to deliver the London Olympic and Paralympic Games and meet the five legacy commitments made by the Mayor of London.
It highlights good progress made on transforming what was contaminated industrial land into the Olympic Park, and towards delivering the promised ‘greenest’ Games ever. However, the report also identifies employment targets, the tourism strategy and sports participation levels – particularly for people with disabilities - as areas of concern.
The report assesses each of the five legacy promises made by the former Mayor, and subsequently adopted by the current Mayor, and awards each a gold, silver or bronze ranking according to the achievements made so far.
