The Assembly appointed a committee in May 2003 to respond to the Mayor's draft children and young people's strategy for London. The Committee's response welcomes the production of the draft strategy, and makes a number of positive recommendations for its revision and implementation. In launching the report, the Committee's Chair, Diana Johnson AM, said, 'There has been unanimous support for the aims and visions of this strategy and while Ken can talk the talk, he now needs to prove he can walk the walk. He must establish clear goals, set priorities, outline precisely what he intends to do and how he intends to achieve it. When he comes back with his final report, that is what we will be looking for. It will be interesting to see how he will turn his laudable wish list into a practical action plan - that is his challenge.'
