Our Transport Committee has responded to the Mayor's consultation on his Roads Task Force. The Committee believes the Task Force is an important part of developing a coherent plan to tackle road congestion in London.
The response is based on the Committee's previous work and, in particular, its report The Future of Road Congestion in London (June 2011) which looked at current and forecasted levels of road congestion and the options for addressing it by increasing capacity on the road network and managing demand for road space.
The response also addresses the four specific areas covered by the consultation:
- challenges facing London’s roads;
- managing and defining demand for road space;
- solutions to meeting the challenges facing London’s roads; and
- prioritising these solutions.
