London Youth Achievement Awards 2025

The London Youth Achievement Awards are an opportunity for the London Assembly, in close collaboration with the London Youth Assembly, to recognise the valuable impact of young people in the capital. This awards programme will showcase and celebrate the breadth of inspirational activities and achievements accomplished by young people across London.

LYAA logo and timeline: January: Nominations Open. February: Nominations Close. March: Category Champions Deliberation. April: Shortlist Announced. May: Award Ceremony.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominations are open to everyone regardless of relationship to nominee. Parents, guardians, teachers, peers and organisations are all welcome to submit nominations. 

  • Each nominator may submit a maximum of two nominations per award category; when submitting more than one entry for a category, the nominations must be for two different nominees.  

  • Nominators may submit the same nominee for more than one award category.  

  • Nominees must currently be between 11-18 years old; or up to 25 with: special educational needs; and/or disability; and or a carer or care leaver. 

  • Nominees must be living in London or accessing education or employment in the city. 

  • Individuals may not nominate themselves.


Judging & Category Champions

Our Category Champions will consider the nominations and will decide on a shortlist, which will include a winner.   

Nominations assessed against the category criteria following the STAR method. There is a limit of 1300 characters per section, equalling approximately 200 words per STAR letter. 

  • Situation - the situation the nominee had to deal with (approx. 200 words) 
  • Task - the task they were responsible for (approx. 200 words) 
  • Action - the action they took (approx. 200 words) 
  • Result - what happened as a result of their action (approx. 200 words)

 

Complete the nomination form online or request a Microsoft Word version from [email protected]. The submission deadline is Friday 21 February at 11:59 pm.   

Incomplete applications may not be considered.

Please note our category champions are looking at the overall impact of any project, initiative or individual nominated, rather than the volume of entries for the project, initiative or individual.

Criteria

Individual or Group Award 

Innovative Initiative Award

This award recognises an individual or group who has responded to a challenge in their community, with creative and innovative solutions. This could be in response to social, economic, health or other such issues faced by communities in London. 

Group & Individual

Young Leader Award 

This award recognises an individual who has shown great leadership within their community. This could be at school, at work or at a youth club/centre etc.  

Individual 

Greener London Award  

This award recognises an individual or group who has undertaken activities or projects which have brought about positive environmental change in London. 

Group & Individual 

Young Carer or Care Leaver Award 

This award recognises any carer or care leaver who deserves special recognition for their achievements whilst carrying out their caring responsibilities. 

Individual 

Community Safety award   

This award recognises any individual or group that has demonstrated efforts to creating a safer London for young people.   

Group & Individual 

Youth Voice of London Award  

This award recognises any individual or group that has contributed to youth led activism and political representation for young people in London. 

Group & Individual 

 Inclusion and Diversity Award 

This award recognises any individual or group that has initiated or contributed to increasing diversity and inclusion in their community.

Outstanding Achievement Award   

This award recognises any individual that has overcome hardship, challenges or adversity and has achieved exceptional outcomes. We particularly welcome submissions for Londoners with disabilities or special educational needs.  

Individual 

Best Youth Campaign Award    

This award recognises any individual or youth led campaign which has positively impacted young people in London. This could be in any field, including creative, social and educational campaigns. 

Group & Individual 

Young Media Champion Award  

This award recognises an individual who has used the power of media (social media or traditional media) to engage young audiences positively.
