Led by rapporteur John Biggs AM, the Planning & Spatial Development Committee’s report into the Thames Path and Foreshore calls upon the Mayor, boroughs and other agencies to provide a more carefully thought out riverside environment. The report draws particular attention to the eastern sections of the river where massive redevelopment is planned and the riverside environment is expected to change dramatically. The report calls upon the extension of National Trail status to include the whole of East London and the Mayor to also consider a warden scheme to cover the whole Greater London area of the Thames Path. The Committee also draws attention and offers its support to the work being done to increase safe access to the Thames’ tidal foreshore.
