Reviewing the delivery of the 2024 London Elections
The Mayor of London and London Assembly elections in May 2024 were the first to take place in London since the Elections Act 2022 brought in several changes, including the requirement for voter ID, the move to a manual count, and the introduction of a first past the post system in the Mayoral vote.
In the first meeting of the London Assembly Elections Review Working Group, Members will question guests from London Elects and from the Greater London Authority (GLA) on topics such as the cost and delivery of the elections, and separate work done by the GLA on voter engagement.
Across three meetings and an extensive call for evidence, the Group will look at the perceptions of candidates and agents, boroughs, and the wider public on May’s elections, identify the key lessons from 2024 and recommend improvements for how future elections should be run.
Tomorrow, guests involved in delivering the election will face questions at City Hall.
The guests are:
Panel 1: London Elects, 2pm-4pm
- Mary Harpley, Greater London Returning Officer
- Alex Conway, Deputy Greater London Returning Officer
- Lea Goddard, Senior Elections Manager and Deputy Greater London Returning Officer
- Ajay Patel, Deputy Greater London Returning Officer
- Alex Chafey, Senior Marketing Manager, London Elects
Panel 2: GLA Communities and Skills, 4pm-4.30pm
- Farah Elahi, Head of Community Engagement, Greater London Authority
The meeting will take place on Thursday 25 July from 2pm, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
