New Met Commissioner to face Assembly questions

Sir Mark Rowley QPM, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police
Created on
11 October 2022

The Metropolitan Police has been rocked by a series of recent scandals including the murder of Sarah Everard, the strip-search of Child Q, and officers caught exchanging highly offensive messages.

These failures have impacted trust and confidence in the police for many Londoners, while the force has been placed into a form of special measures by the Inspectorate.

Sir Mark Rowley took over as head of Scotland Yard last month. With several pressing issues in his in-tray, what is the number one priority for the new Commissioner?

The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will meet tomorrow to question Sir Mark on his vision and plans for the force. The guests are:

  • Sir Mark Rowley QPM, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police
  • Sophie Linden, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 12 October 2022 from 10am, in The Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
