Investigating violence against healthcare staff

The latest NHS Staff Survey found that more than 14 per cent of staff experienced physical violence at work in the past year.

Violence and abuse against healthcare workers in London is critical, with new figures showing an increase in reported incidents across ambulance services and NHS trusts.

Tomorrow, the London Assembly Health Committee will examine why incidents appear to be increasing, the impact on staff and services, and what more can be done to protect healthcare workers.

The guests are:

Panel 1:

  • Jason Killens KAM, Chief Executive Officer, London Ambulance Service
  • Emily Jackson, Clinical Advisor – Paramedic, London Ambulance Service
  • Lisa Elliott, Director for London, Royal College of Nursing
  • Zebina Ratansi MBE, retired nurse and former Director of Nursing at a London hospital

Panel 2:

  • Andie Johnson, Programme Manager for Health and Wellbeing, NHS England (London region)
  • Thomas Manu, Operational Support Service Officer, Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust
  • Iain Jones, Security Manager, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • David Shaw, ISS Senior Operations Manager, Princess Royal University Hospital

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 4 March 2026 from 10am in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
