How will the Mayor’s budget deliver for Londoners?

The Mayor published his Consultation Budget and Draft Capital Spending Plan for 2025-26 on 4 December 2024, which included total Greater London Authority (GLA) Group budgeted expenditure for 2025-26 of £21.4 billion.1

The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will meet tomorrow to question the Mayor of London on his draft consolidated budget for 2025-26, looking specifically at:

  • Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime/Metropolitan Police Service (MOPAC/MPS)
  • Transport for London (TfL)
  • Housing
  • Universal Free School Meals.

Following the first part of the meeting with the Mayor, the Committee will question a panel of external experts to discuss the impact of the draft budget.

  • Ian Wiggett, Associate Director, World Policing Advisory
  • Prof Gloria Laycock, UCL Jill Dando Institute and the Community Policing and Police Science Institute

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 8 January from 10am, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
