Grooming gangs in London
In 2014, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) in England and Wales was commissioned to examine how and why organisations failed to protect children from sexual abuse.1
Led by Professor Alexis Jay OBE, the IICSA published a report on Child sexual exploitation by organised network.2
In June 2025, Baroness Casey’s National Audit report was published, which focused on group-based child sexual exploitation (CSE) by grooming gangs.3
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will question experts from previous inquiries into child sexual exploitation and London’s Victims’ Commissioner to discuss what is currently known about grooming gangs in London, explore the Met’s response and support for victim-survivors.
Guests include:
- Sarah Kincaid, Lead Reviewer, National Audit on Group-Based Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
- Professor Alexis Jay OBE, Chair of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse
- Andrea Simon, Victims’ Commissioner for London
The meeting will take place in the Chamber at City Hall on Wednesday 9 September 2026 at 10am.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
