Deputy Mayor and London Fire Commissioner under scrutiny

The London Assembly Fire Committee will question the Deputy Mayor for the Fire Service and the London Fire Commissioner on key issues affecting London Fire Brigade, including culture change, the Professional Standards Unit, budget pressures, training, fleet modernisation, building safety, contaminants, and progress on the Community Risk Management Plan.

The session will review actions taken since the Committee’s previous work on culture, e‑bikes and lithium‑ion battery fires, exposure to fire contaminants, and wider operational performance across the Brigade.

The guests are:

  • Sally Hopper, Director for People, LFB (first 40 minutes of meeting only)
  • Niran Mothada, Independent Chair for Professional Standards, LFB (first 40 minutes of meeting only)
  • Jules Pipe CBE, Deputy Mayor, Planning, Regeneration and the Fire Service
  • Jonathan Smith, London Fire Commissioner

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 17 March 2026 from 10am in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
