The London Assembly will hold a confirmation hearing to assess the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s proposed appointment to Chair of the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC)

How is London Fire Brigade improving its culture?
Fire Committee – Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am
In November 2022 an independent review of culture within the London Fire Brigade (LFB) identified a range of concerns including issues relating to institutional racism, misogyny and mental health.
Tomorrow, two years on from the publication of the Review, the London Assembly Fire Committee will ask the London Fire Commissioner, Andy Roe, and Deputy Commissioner, Jonathan Smith, what progress has been made to improve the organisation’s culture – and whether its Professional Standards Unit is effectively addressing misconduct.

Commissioning services through MOPAC and the VRU
Police and Crime Committee – Committee Rooms 2&3, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and the Mayor’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) both have significant commissioning powers. These largely focus on victims’ services, as well as crime prevention and reduction work.
The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will investigate how MOPAC and the VRU are spending commissioning budgets, including services that have been commissioned over the last three years and how these services meet local need and improve the lives of Londoners.

Swimmable rivers in London
Environment Committee – Committee Rooms 2&3, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 2pm
The Mayor stated in his 2024 election manifesto that he “will launch an ambitious plan to make rivers in London swimmable within ten years.”
The London Assembly Environment Committee will meet for the first of a three-part investigation into the Mayor’s plan for swimmable rivers, and will speak with experts on river health, using rivers for recreation and what defines a swimmable river.
