Assembly to assess Mayor’s Chair of the Oxford Street Development Corporation

The London Assembly will hold a confirmation hearing on Monday to assess Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan’s proposed appointment of Scott Parsons as Chair of the Oxford Street Development Corporation (OSDC).

The Assembly’s Confirmation Hearings Committee will question the Mayor’s proposed candidates on four key areas:

  • Whether the candidate is qualified for the position
  • Whether the candidate has the time and capacity for the position
  • Whether the candidate is fit (independent and impartial) for the position
  • The main responsibilities of the post and the key issues for the OSDC to address

According to the 2007 GLA Act, the Assembly has the power to question candidates the Mayor of London puts forward to take up posts at key organisations in the capital.1

Following the hearing, the Committee will make a recommendation to the Mayor as to whether they agree or reject the proposed appointments.2

The hearing will take place on Monday 10 November from 3:00pm in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
