Biography

Marina Ahmad became the London Assembly Member for Lambeth and Southwark in May 2021.

 Marina has lived in South London for over twenty years and has previously worked in the NHS, local Government and in international development. She trained as a barrister and worked for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).  She served as a councillor from 2018-2021.

Marina is an ardent campaigner against poverty in London, having launched a report into childhood hunger, lobbying for free school meals and an increase to Universal Credit. 

Marina has chaired the Assembly’s Economy Committee since 2023. 

Locally, Marina has spearheaded a number of campaigns, including the fight to save bus routes, keep train ticket offices open and supporting women’s football.
