Dear Grant,
Active travel fund - allocations to local authorities in London
I welcome the announcement you made last week on the phase two allocations for the active travel fund1. Investment in walking and cycling infrastructure is very important at a time when social distancing has reduced the capacity of public transport for passengers.
Can you confirm allocations of the active travel fund both to Transport for London (TfL) and to local authorities in London. At present the only published data you are providing on these allocations puts all London councils and TfL into a single total per phase2.
Without details by local authority within London (and other combined authorities) on the allocation of this funding there is a gap in transparency. This means that changes in investment for walking and cycling from London boroughs (both up and down) are no longer visible. Previously, Transport for London has been able to supply this information to me and where allocations of DfT money have been made direct to London councils they have itemised details by local authority.
Please write to me with the details of the allocations of this funding by local authority within London for both phases of the active travel fund and ensure that suitably detailed information is published in future.
Yours sincerely,
Caroline Russell Green Party Member of the London Assembly
