In response to today’s joint statement of the London Housing Delivery Taskforce calling for urgent investment in new homes for Londoners, Siân Berry AM released the following statement: [1]
“I’ve been calling on the Mayor to buy more homes for years – this announcement shows he is paying attention.
"London has a serious housing emergency. People caught in the middle of it need urgent actions like buying the supply, and can't simply wait years for new council homes to be built. This is one way to speed things up rapidly.
"Now the Mayor needs to provide clarity on how he is funding these acquisitions, including whether he has found new funding for this, and how many new council homes Londoners can expect."
