Summary of request
Dear Greater London Authority, on visits to London in recent years I have noticed uniformed persons located at or near monuments and other places of interest, harassing members of the public and making demands that they should cease video and filming. I am informed that these persons are Heritage Wardens employed by the Greater London Authority. As there is no law prohibiting photography in public, can you please provide me with the following recorded information:
1. What is the function and purpose of a Heritage Warden
2, What authority under common law do they possess (exclusive of any byelaw that can be challenged in court)
3. What is the geographical extent of this authority should it exist.
I remind you of your obligation to the Nolan Principles when responding to this request.
Yours faithfully,
