Eight months ago we had the awful atrocity against Muslim worshippers in Christchurch, New Zealand. You responded with a letter of condolence to the victims and the town. Your letter, and other public actions were, quite rightly, given prominence in the media. However, I must have missed your letters regarding equal or even greater atrocities perpetrated against worshippers of other faiths, particularly Christian, and here I am thinking of the bombings of churches in Egypt, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. As Mayor of such a multicultural city, I feel sure that you would have written similar letters of condolence. I should be grateful if you would arrange to send me copies of such letters as I don’t think they received such media attention.
