EIR - ULEZ Capital and Heart radio advertisements

Key information

Request reference number: MGLA070819-9556

Date of response:

Summary of request

A recent radio advertisement for Transport for London claims that the biggest cause of pollution / bad air conditions within London is  public and private motorist and that it is TFL strategy to tackle this problem by the introduction of the low emission zone and also strategy to encourage individuals to cycle by the introduction of cycling lanes.

I would therefore like to request the underlying information data that supports the conclusion that public and private motorist are the biggest causes of pollution. In addition could you provide the level of reduction in pollution expected to result from the introduction of the low emission zone and also the reduction in pollution levels that have resulted from the introduction of the cycling super highway

Clearly this information should be readily available as it must have been used to formulate the radio advertisement that makes the claims outlined above.
