Summary of request
I understand that the Mayor of London's office secured £61 million in funding for the above scheme, to help people on income support and disability benefits. I further understand that as of 11th October 6,700 cars, 5,200 vans, 100 HGV's and 20 coaches had claimed grants of up to £2,000 under this scheme and that only £1,917,348 remained in the fund suggesting that a little over £59 million had been distributed (all from an Evening Standard article using data provided by Sadiq Khan. If all of the above claimants were awarded a £2,000 grant that would amount to £24,040,000, leaving a shortfall in excess of £35 million. Even if vans etc received double the standard grant amount that still leaves an enormous shortfall. Could you please explain this, and give me an approximate breakdown.
