Summary of request
Dear FOI team,
I am sending this request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), to ask for the following information:
- Please provide the precise number and list of locations/names of primary and secondary schools in London where air pollution breaches legal limit, according to your most recent data (I believe the same metric has been used across the years, of annual mean limit of 40ug/m3 NO2, but please clarify). If you are able to provide more recent data without breaching the s12 time limit please do. If not, please provide underlying data from May 2018 (see below). Please provide as a spreadsheet with school name, pollution level, and any location information such as borough. [Further notes: A report from May 2018, The Mayor’s School Air Quality Audit Programme states that “Over 400 primary schools are located in areas which exceed legal pollution limits, and 25% of primary schools are in areas with dangerously high levels of air pollution.” A statement by the Mayor’s Office on 24th Jan, 2017 reports that “latest City Hall data shows 360 primary schools” where pollution exceeds legal limits. A statement on 1st July, 2016 (which updates 2013 data) reports that 443 primary and 86 secondary schools are in breach of legal limits. A 2013 (Aether) report says 357 primary and 86 secondary schools have pollution breaching limits. A 2010 report gives 433 primary schools]
- Please list the schools with “dangerously high” levels and explain metrics for this (language taken from 2018 report quoted above).
- All email communication with Lambeth council regarding broken Brixton Road air quality monitoring station, from 1st Jan 2018 to today (26th July 2019).
- Any helpful and important contextual information is most welcome.
