Your request

  1. How many venues signed up to the Night Safety Charter have a published personal safety policy on sexual harassment towards staff?
  2. What performance indicators do you use to determine the success of the Charter for the venues that have signed up?
  3. The Mayor invested an additional £108,000 of funding to the Charter last year. Could you break down where exactly this money has gone?

Our response

  1. The GLA does not hold this information. All signatories are encouraged to ensure they have policies and procedures in place that enable staff, and customers, to feel confident in reporting incidents of sexual harassment.
  2. All signatories are encouraged to make progress on the seven pledges within their own resources. Examples of best practice or innovative ways of meeting the pledges are shared across the network to help signatories. All signatories are asked to complete a voluntary survey each year to monitor their progress in meeting the pledges.
  3. The investment from the Mayor supported:
  • a dedicated project manager role to promote the Charter and increase the number of signatories
  • two in-person summits to share best practice in supporting signatories meeting the pledges
  • two video resources promoting the Charter and giving best practice examples
  • an interactive toolkit with advice and signposting on how signatories can meet the pledges
  • eight online training sessions for signatories on a range of topics, including reporting and responding to sexual harassment, design of spaces and bystander intervention.
