Can you tell me what amounts have been spent on independent legal advice in the above [ULEZ]. Could you further provide monies spent on other independent consultants in the above.
Our response
Regarding the ULEZ expansion that was implemented on 29 August 2023, Transport for London and the Mayor instructed external solicitors and barristers to act for them in defending the ULEZ judicial review proceedings. The external costs incurred in doing so were £206,000. However further to the Court’s Order, the Claimants are required to pay TfL and the Mayor’s external costs together with an allowance for internal legal resources. The final amount of these costs has not yet been determined but the claimants have already reimbursed TfL for an amount above the external costs incurred.
TfL is the Mayor's transport authority and is responsible for implementing the Mayor's Transport Strategy, and for the design, procurement, delivery and operational running of road user charging schemes such as the ULEZ. You may wish to send a further request to TfL at [email protected].
