FOI - ULEZ consultation process [Mar 2023]

Key information

Request reference number: MGLA060323-1842

Date of response:

Summary of request

Your request

I wish to know how many people voted in favour of this stupid legislation. It’s against
common law and Magna Carta. It’s unnecessary and restrictive. You are being paid by
the tax payer to do their behest not what you think is good for us. We live in a
democracy where government officials are paid to do the population bidding.

Our response

Following a public consultation that ran from 20 May to 29 July 2022, the Mayor has decided to expand the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) London-wide from 29 August 2023.

The Mayor made this decision after taking into account a detailed consultation report and integrated impact assessment.

The Mayor’s decision and supporting documentation, including the consultation report with an analysis of the nearly 58,000 responses received and themes raised, can be found on the GLA website.

The Mayoral Decision also sets out the legal framework for this decision, including the powers held by the Mayor and Transport for London.
