Summary of request
Your request
- The amount of hours spent in trade union negotiations since 1 January 2022
- How many trade union negotiators are employed or contracted by the Mayor of London?
- The salary of said trade union negotiator
Our response:
The GLA’s Human Resources and Organisational Development (HR & OD) team does negotiate with UNISON, for example, on GLA staff pay discussions. However the number of hours is not recorded.
With regard to trade union negotiators employed or contracted by the Mayor of London, it is not entirely clear how to interpret this part of your request. The GLA does not employ anyone specifically with the role of ‘trade union negotiator’. The GLA does have trade union representatives and if your request is about trade union representatives, the Local Government Transparency Code requires us to publish information about the numbers of our staff engaged in trade union activity (Trade Union Facility Time or TUFT). The HR & OD Team that may negotiate with staff union representatives as above.
If you are interested in the GLA’s partner organisations, they are separate public authorities for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 as per schedule 1 of the Act. You may wish to make separate requests to them.
