Copy of request:

I believe you may have received a Freedom of Information request on or around April 30, 2018, asking about sexual misconduct in public leisure centres. If you have a record of such a request, could you please send me a copy of your original response, and if possible, the request itself?

Response:

I can confirm that the GLA holds information within the scope of your request – a copy of the Freedom of Information request dated 30 April 2018, asking about sexual misconduct in council leisure centres. The GLA responded on 20 May 2018. Copies are attached.

Exempt information:

The names of the applicant and staff are exempt from disclosure under s.40 (Personal information) of the Freedom of Information Act. This information constitutes personal data which is defined by Article 4(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to mean any information relating to an identified or identifiable living individual. It is considered that disclosure of this information would contravene the first data protection principle under Article 5(1) of GDPR which states that Personal data must be processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to the data subject.

Advice/assistance:

Since April 2023, the GLA are the long leaseholders for the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, which is operated on their behalf by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) under their Better brand. Prior to April 2023, GLA Land and Property (GLAP) were the leaseholders. As operators of the facility, GLL maintain records of any Health and Safety incidents reported or witnessed at the centre, including any harassment incidents. The centre currently has a range of changing facilities including single sex, group change for teams or groups and family changing, in addition to accessible changing rooms.
