Our response

We have carried out searches for qualitative and quantitative research that focused on public or victim perceptions of policing and crime in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Our searches would not have captured any crime-related elements or questions in pieces of work that are focused on other topics.

The GLA conducted the following quantitative research in 2020-21 and 2021-22
that focused on public perceptions of policing and crime:

A representative poll of Londoners aged 18+ in July 2021 that explored attitudes towards violent crime.  The outputs for that poll can be found here.

The poll was delivered through a 4-year polling contract with YouGov Plc. Due to the way the contract is set up, it is not possible to provide an exact cost for this individual
poll. The Mayor approved expenditure of up to £400,000 through this contract from November 2021 to October 2025. See further details.

The GLA did not conduct any qualitative research in 2020-21 or 2021-22 that focused on public or victim perceptions of policing and crime.

The GLA has a 4-year contract with YouGov Plc to provide public polling to support effective and impactful policymaking, and the development of strategies and programmes, at City Hall. See published polling results.

As we previously advised, the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) may hold relevant information so you may also wish to send your request to MOPAC. You can make a request at [email protected].

Although the GLA and MOPAC are closely linked, they are separate Public Authorities for the purposes of The Freedom of Information Act 2000, as per schedule 1 of the Act.
