1. How many protest or rally permits have been given so far in 2023?
2. How many Palestine related rallies have been given permission so far this year?
3. Do you usually notify businesses within the vicinity of rallies? If not, then which authority or organisation is responsible for that?

I need the updated information available here but so far in 2023. 

Our response

Please see the attached document with details of rallies in Trafalgar Square from September 2022 to the date of your clarified request, 21 October 2023.

The total number of applications is 38, none of which are related to Palestine.

The earlier Freedom of Information request gives information about rallies on Trafalgar Square from January 2020 to August 2022.

Regarding the notification of local businesses, the GLA chair the Trafalgar Square Neighbours Group, consisting of representatives from local buildings and businesses, including the local Business Improvement District. 

Quarterly meetings are held to discuss expected activities in that quarter. In addition, an email notification is sent to members ahead of authorised activities taking place on Trafalgar Square.
