Summary of request
Your request
How much did the GLA spent on the following poster advertising the Mayor's free school meals policy?
To be clear, as well as design, printing costs etc, this request also includes any GLA estimate of how much advertising revenue was foregone because the space could not be used for a conventional commercial advert.
Our response
The total cost of poster placements is £24,070.59
This is broken down as follows:
- Design work carried out by GLA staff, printing cost for Transport for London (TfL) posters: £2,258.04
- Media space cost for poster placements across billboards and bus shelters and additional printing costs: £21,812.55
The TfL advertising space used by the GLA is not commercial space and therefore, TfL did not forego advertising revenue as a result of the campaign.
This activity helped increase awareness of the Free School Meals (FSM) programme. It resulted in over 10m people having the opportunity to see and learn how to access further information about it.
During term-time, up to 287,000 primary school children at London’s state schools are now benefitting from free school meals, saving families upwards of £440 per child.
