Summary of request
I am writing to obtain information about council beautification projects. Please provide me with the following information for the previous five financial years (2025-26, 2024-25, 2023-24, 2022-23, 2021-22).
- The total amount spent on filling potholes in each of the requested years.
- The total amount spent on power washing in each of the requested years.
- The total amount spent on buying / managing flowers in each of the requested years.
- The total amount spent on fixing or decorating windows on council owned properties in each of the requested years.
- The total amount spent on lawn mowing (maintenance) in each of the requested years.
- The total amount spent on painting in each of the requested years.
Response:
The GLA is London's strategic government and does not operate in the same way as local councils in the capital so GLA does not hold information on council services, council housing or pothole repair costs related to council roads.
The GLA does hold information related to cleaning and maintenance of City Hall’s buildings and squares. Please find below the information we hold within the scope of your request.

The GLA does not hold information in scope of your request. You may wish to submit requests to London’s Borough councils including the City of London, or TfL for information related to red routes ([email protected]).
The total amount spent on power washing in each of the requested years.
Regular floor cleansing is included as part of the wider cleansing and waste costs at Trafalgar & Parliament Square Gardens. Occasionally specialist power washing is required on an ad-hoc basis. Please see table below.
The total amount spent on buying / managing flowers in each of the requested years.
The costs related to the annual programme of bedding plants at Parliament Square Garden are included as part of a wider contract. In 2025, additional plants were purchased at a cost of £2,900+ VAT.
