The GLA holds the information in scope of your request and is outlined as follows:
- Official statistics on Argentine nationals residing in London and any relevant information you might hold on migration trends related to Argentine nationals for the last ten years.
Official statistics on populations by countries of origin are available from the 2021 England and Wales Census including data on country of birth and passports held. Data are available separately for those permanently resident in the UK (so-call ‘usual residents’) and those temporarily resident (‘short term residents). Due to disclosure rules, figures for persons holding passports have been published only for South America in total.
The Annual Population Survey (APS) does collect respondent’s nationality and up to 2021 APS-based estimates of the numbers were published, although figures for individual nationalities are not considered to be reliable. After 2021, publication of APS-based estimates was suspended due to concerns over the quality of these data. The available information from both Census and APS are in Appendix 1.

The UK migration system measures the component flows of persons into and out of the country rather than the resultant numbers of migrants resident here, and most flows are not disaggregated by UK region. Appendix 1 provides available information on flows based on the latest data released on 28 November 2024. Appendix 1 includes UK figures for visas granted to Argentine Nationals; UK and London figures for National Insurance Number registrations (NINos) by Argentine Nationals; and England figures for EU Settlement Scheme applications resulting in a grant of entry to the UK. Figures for persons holding dual nationality are not available.
