Our response
Please see our answers to each question in turn below:
1. The name of the required GLA senior sponsor for this pledge.
The GLA as an organisation has committed to the pledge by assigning a senior sponsor.
Tunde Olayinka, Executive Director, Communities and Skills is our Senior Sponsor.
2. The five areas required by the pledge the GLA is taking action on.
The GLA does not hold this information. At the 6 month point, the GLA & Centre for Better Ageing will discuss the one or more actions we wish to take against the pledge main criteria. The GLA already has a range of policies in place, including flexible working, menopause policy, annual health screening assessments for all staff aged 50 or over, and mammograms for colleagues over 40. We’ll be looking in to what other actions we can take to be an age friendly employer. We already promote a range of flexible working arrangements, alongside other policies, such as our menopause policy and annual health screening assessments for all staff aged 50 or over.
3 An age composition of GLA staff broken down by Directorates.
As at the 30 September 2023, the age breakdowns for directorates in the GLA are below:
