EIR - SHLAA 2017 dataset [Sep 2026]

Key information

Request reference number: MGLA190826-6296

Date of response:

Summary of request

Under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (or the Freedom of Information Act 2000 if you consider that more appropriate), I am requesting the site-level records held in the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment for the large sites that were assessed but which do not appear in the published Appendices D and E. The 2017 SHLAA report states at paragraph 3.1 that approximately 11,600 large sites were assessed, and at paragraph 1.6 that "only sites that are already approved or allocated for housing and therefore already in the public domain are identified in the SHLAA report (Appendix D and E).

Site level information for other potential sites considered in the SHLAA remain confidential". Appendices D and E, which I have downloaded from the London Datastore, contain 905 approval sites and 791 allocation sites. This request concerns the balance of the assessed sites.

For each such site, please provide the following fields as a CSV or Excel export from the SHLAA system:

  1. The SHLAA site reference
  2. The local planning authority
  3. The site location – easting and northing, or address, as held
  4. The gross site area in hectares
  5. The identified housing capacity
  6. The phase or estimated completion period assigned
  7. The site source category – for example GLA-identified, borough-added, or the source set out in Table 4.1 of the report

These are the same fields already published for Appendices D and E, so the disclosure format is one the GLA has already adopted for this dataset.

Our response

Please find attached a copy of the requested data in CSV format. This includes the previously shared site level information provided in Appendices D and E.
