Request reference number: MGLA221025-6940

Date of response:

Summary of request

Your request

Please provide the makes and models of all manufactured air filtration systems tested for GLA as part of the AIR FILTRATION IN LONDON SCHOOLS project NO. 70117879.

Our response

Four air filtration systems (or air filters) were tested as part of the air filtration research project undertaken in 2024. These were:

  • Airmega 150, Coway
  • ZERO Pro, WINIX
  • Blast, Smart Air
  • DIY filter box based on Corsi-Rosenthal design

The report aimed to identify which types were effective and practical in schools. It identified that High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters were effective at reducing levels of PM2.5 in classrooms, and that they were well received by school staff. The report is available on the following webpage: www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/environment-and-climate-change/pollution-and-air-quality/school-filters-programme
