Our response
- The steps taken to calculate the London Borough of Islington’s need for pitches for the first five years of the assessment (ie 9 pitches) are set out in the London GTANA Appendices 1-17 November 2025 Amended July 2026.pdf, page 94 (Appendix 13). For the second five year period assessed a growth rate is applied to determine the need. A growth rate (13.1%) is applied to the sum of the existing pitches - zero in Islington as the borough has no pitches - and need for the first five years, i.e. 9 pitches. This results in a need for 1 pitch for the second five year period. For further background on the growth rate applied please see paragraphs 4.47 to 4.51 of the London GTANA report.
- We are not aware of any discussions with or statement of common ground with the London Borough of Islington regarding meeting Islington’s Gypsy and Traveller pitch need on a sub regional or cross boundary basis with neighbouring boroughs.
