Summary of request
Under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, I would like to request a copy of the study commissioned by the Greater London Authority which forecasts data centre growth in London to inform future policy.
The study was referred to by the Mayor in a written answer on 24 June 2025, which stated:
“My officers have commissioned a study which will forecast data centre growth in London to inform future policy, which will also need to take into account the identification of suitable locations for data centres as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.”
I am making this request under the EIR because the study concerns the forecast growth and location of data centres, which have significant environmental implications, including their energy consumption, carbon emissions and use of land and other resources. The study is therefore likely to contain information relating to factors affecting, or capable of affecting, the environment and environmental decision-making.
