The Mayor continues to oppose new incineration capacity, which isn’t needed to manage the city’s non-recyclable waste. This position is set out in the Mayor’s London Environment Strategy.
The Mayor has no powers to take enforcement action for operational incinerators. The Environment Agency regulates these facilities and are responsible for ensuring that emission limits are not exceeded.
