Peter Sebastian

Biography

Peter has worked across the private, not-for-profit and public sectors prior to joining the GLA in May 2025. For the previous six years, Peter has held senior finance roles in local authorities, including at the London Borough of Camden and Birmingham City Council.

Prior to that, Peter spent six years in the civil service, working in HM Treasury, MHCLG and the Cabinet Office. He has also worked in the not-for-profit sector with Social Finance and started his career in the private sector, qualifying as an accountant at KPMG.

Responsibilities

To lead an effective and responsive financial services function taking overall leadership on all financial issues for the GLA.

Responsibilities include, leading the:

• Finance Business Partner Teams
• development of the draft component budget and Capital Programme for the GLA
• Technical Accountancy Team to ensure the Authority’s accounts are closed by statutory deadlines
• achievement of efficiency and effectiveness across the GLA Group and the wider London public sector through promoting and delivering collaboration and shared services.
