Response
Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request of 14 February to the Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC). I confirm that your request has been handled under the FOI Act 2000 and that MOPAC does hold the information requested, which is below and attached.
In terms of trust and confidence in the police, the data at borough level is available on the MOPAC Trust and Confidence dashboard:
https://data.london.gov.uk/mopac-pcp-dashboard/increase-trust-and-confidence-dashboard/
To get Waltham Forest data, click “Public Perceptions (discrete quarter)”, select Waltham Forest on the map, and then you can change the measure of interest (i.e., trust or confidence) using the dropdown at the top right.
In the most recent period (Q2 22-23) trust among residents of Waltham Forest was 66% and confidence 40%. Data on the dashboard go back to Q3 14-15.
In terms of priorities, MOPAC ask Public Attitude Survey (PAS) respondents what they think the top three things police should be dealing with in their area. The data for this for the 12 months to Q2 22-23 is attached (i.e. Most recent). Looking at what people say is their first priority:
• Gun/knife crime come out top, with 20% of residents saying this is their first priority.
• Drugs and drug-related crime come second, with 15% saying it's their first priority
• Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) inc. Graffiti/vandalism is third, with 11% putting it as their first priority
There is a full breakdown in the attached spreadsheet.
If you are unhappy with the response to your Freedom of Information request, please see the MOPAC website on what the next steps are at: https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/mayors-office-policing-and-crime-mopac/governance-and-decision-making/freedom-information
