Mayor statement on Wembley Stadium capacity

Created on
15 June 2021

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “It is absolutely brilliant news that more than 40,000 supporters will be able to attend the last of the round 16 matches, both semi-finals and the final at Wembley as the capital reopens. I am also delighted that the Men’s and Women’s Wimbledon finals will be played in front of full crowds.

“I continue to work closely with agencies across London to ensure the capital hosts the best sporting summer possible - and to remind everyone that London is the greatest sporting city in the world.

“It is really important that Londoners continue to stick to the rules throughout the tournament, get tested for Covid regularly and take both doses of the vaccine as soon as they are offered.”
