Greater London Authority statement on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is publishing this daily update on behalf of the NHS and London Strategic Coordinating Group.

On Saturday 30 May, a further 6 people who tested positive for COVID-19 were confirmed to have died in hospitals in the Greater London area. There were 0 deaths where COVID-19 was documented as a direct or underlying cause of death.

The total number of reported deaths in London hospitals of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 is now 5,947. The total number of deaths where there hasn’t been a positive test, but COVID-19 is documented as a direct or underlying cause of deaths since April 24 is now 168.

*The Covid Patient Notification System did not operate between 0455 and 1500 on Sunday 24 May. This may therefore be reflected in the number of deaths reported by NHS England and NHS Improvement.

These figures will be published daily. They include confirmed hospital deaths reported at 5pm the previous day. Due to the reporting time, the figures may not include all deaths for that day and the deaths may have occurred prior to this 24-hour period. From Tuesday 28 April, they will include patient deaths where there hasn’t been a positive test result, but COVID-19 is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death, dated back to Friday 24 April. These figures do not include deaths related to COVID-19 outside of hospitals in the community.
